Merlin Woods Community Growth Mindset
Merlin Woods gives you our gift " Growth Mindset".
We have created an environment that teaches the growth mindset to all our adult and child members especially our members who can be targets of negative stereotypes. Even when the negative label comes along, they'll remain in charge of their learning.
.............................................
Grow Your Mindset:
Think about your hero. Do you think of this person as someone with extraordinary abilities who achieved with little effort?
Think of times other people outdid you and you just assumed they were smarter or more talented. Now consider the idea that they just used better strategies, taught themselves more, practiced harder, and worked their way through obstacles. You can do that, too, if you want to.
..................................................................
Growth mindset advice:
Praise wisely and praise process.
Example of bad praise to your child: do not praise children on ability or praise by saying " well done you must be smart" after a test.
Example of good praise to your child: use "well done you must have worked really hard"
Use praise carefully, the second example above is for doing what it takes to succeed.
This creates focus for kids and resilience.
It gives kids a path to future that creates greater persistence

Characteristics of a Growth mindset:
Success is doing your best in learning and improving.
Those of you with the growth mindset will find setbacks as motivating and informative.
--------------------------------------
Those with a growth mindset keep on learning. Not worried about protecting their fixed abilities, they look directly at their mistakes, use the feedback, and alter their strategies accordingly. They become better and better at understanding how to deploy and motivate co workers. In fact they end up way more productive than those with the fixed mindset. Whats more the growth mindset helps you maintain a healthy sense of confidence
